Hilariously, the digimon turned out to be a dog, not a kitten as the producer had assumed based on its evolved form, Tailmon. Instead of making an educated guess, the producer, Terri-Lei O'Malley, decided to rename it after her pet cat, and the digimon thus became known as Salamon. The team dubbing Digimon Adventure reportedly had a hard time translating the name of a Digimon originally known as Plotmon.
